Employee Spotlight: Missy

Missy greets, welcomes, and brings the hospitality as Director of First Impressions here at Performance Signs. Missy kick started her career while in 2013 working in Production at the shop. Her hands-on experience continues to help her serve clients even better in her current role. Having lived the lingo and having spent time in the production space, Missy has a clear understanding of what the client is requesting even if the client has not yet found the words to describe their need. Knowing that a welcoming space for clients is instrumental, Missy takes great pride in keeping the new lobby inviting and warm. When the bell rings to alert team members of a client’s arrival, Missy jumps to action making sure all real estate signs, temporary banners, and vinyl projects are handed over efficiently.  As business has increased, so has her need for more room and flexibility in serving clients. The new Performance Signs space in Ruckersville provides not only increased space for clients but also ample room for her favorite item, her giant desk.

“My favorite spot in the new space is definitely the one-of-a-kind desk Tommy hand built just for the open concept of the new waiting area. It’s large and I can spread out paperwork and anything needing to be shipped. It’s just right for me.”

The intentionality given to each element in the new office continues to impress Missy as she assists clients when dropping off or picking up their vehicles. Some projects have a quick turnaround time which means a client can now wait more comfortably in the deluxe lobby. Missy makes certain that police fleet wraps, taxi lettering, and more are expedited while clients relax in style, enjoying the new waiting area.

Missy is often our customer’s first and last point of contact. When clients call looking for signs and banners, Missy sends them in the right direction. She expertly directs each new project to the right team member and returns completed work to those coming in for pickup. If being the gatekeeper for a bustling sign shop is not enough, Missy also keeps Performance Signs organized and running. Every team member knows that grabbing supplies quickly and efficiently expedites tasks and the new office helps everyone do just that.

“There’s so much room to spread out but also use efficiently and keep projects moving. I absolutely loved moving to this new shop and having the freedom to start from scratch and organize every single item we use. There are so many bells and whistles throughout the building and I enjoy every one of them.”

Coordinating the recent move afforded Missy a major opportunity to hone her organization skills. Hands down her biggest project thus far, managing smaller office items to state of the art printing equipment kept Missy hustling. Since production never broke for the move, Missy also continued welcoming clients while accepting new furniture deliveries. She also thoroughly enjoyed helping orchestrate the design of the new lobby. Once the team had all items transferred and everyone else was settling into their new space, Missy’s work to keep Performance Signs humming picked up even more speed. Missy helped turn a vacant room into a warm and welcoming lobby fit for clients to comfortably wait for their banners or vinyl car wraps.

While the former Performance Signs shop met the needs of clients and teammates, being in the new space has upped the level all members are functioning at these days. Among the many bells and whistles the increased space offers, Missy enjoys the ability to interact with her teammates more regularly. The kitchen is a favorite gathering space for the whole office and having already hosted many training sessions for different teams, Missy can attest to having a great area to feed and gather. She also appreciates the occasional Mexican feast brought in for lunches, with extra queso of course.

With a background in customer service, Missy is no stranger to meeting the needs of clients and whatever project they carry through the doors. Being able to serve clients helps all the team members at Performance Signs focus on their tasks. The new space at Performance Way in Ruckersville affords Missy the opportunity to discover unique answers for daily tasks. Whether they require public safety fleet wraps or construction signs, Missy will see that every client gets the service and attention they deserve. With the new waiting area offering posh comfy seating and snacks, Missy enjoys visiting with people and knows every person who walks into the shop has a story and she wants to hear it. Connection-driven and the sweetest extrovert to roam the halls, Missy makes certain each sign gets individual attention and guarantees her teammates will see every project like it is their only project.

Since Missy grew up in Greene County and has remained local most of her life, nearly every person who comes through the doors of Performance Signs knows her or her family. Missy is married to Installation Team Leader and Certified 3M Graphics Installer Darren and they enjoy sharing a workspace near each other. Even after the large move and getting everything transferred over to the new office, Missy and Darren remained on-the-go at home having fun with their daughter and their Blue Heeler Mountain Cur dog. When Missy has any down time she wants to be with her family or reading a book. She enjoys watching all college sports and takes in our home team UVA Cavalier games in-person when she can.
